PR Possability

So, becuase I'm in journalism class, our teacher gets a few free summer concert tickets every year. He said he usually gets tix to Warped Tour but has had no sign of them yet this year, however he did get 2 tickets for Project Revolution and 2 for a Maroon 5/Counting Crows show. I dont love all the bands on PR this year, but I would love to go(especially for free!)

So there are 4 people in the class who he's considering giving tickets to(becuase we actually like the music). It's between Jesse(a senior who's obsessed with Blink 182, Angels and Airwaves, and Pluss 44), Elli(whos a bitch but loves all the same music as us, a little more screamo stuff though I think), Cody(who hasnt written a single article all year but has done all the design work in class and his freetime) and myself(writes tons of music articles and gets something published in every article).

So, I'm not saying that I deserve a ticket more than anyone else...but I write music articles all the time, I actually respect the teacher(elli doesnt) and im going to be in journalism 2 next year so i could write a review of the show (jesse is a senior so he couldnt, cody is going to impact school 3 terms next year, and elli isnt taking journalism 2) so ... I think I have a pretty good chance of choosing what ticket I want. I just hope I do for realz. haha.

Or it would be sweet if he got those Warped tickets cuz I'd much rather have that.

remind you not to forget to rememeber me

"its not as deep as it seems
and unfair as it may be,
i'm just here to remind you
remind you not to forget to remember me."

Okay, so nice Envy on the Coast quote to start this off, right? Right. Okay so...Spring break was end of March so that was about 2 months ago. Keep that in mind. It is May 26th. We get off of school June 11, Summerfest starts June 26th. These are all dates I will be keeping in mind.

I think if two people are going out and a boyfriend cant seem to find the time to hang out with his girlfriend alone in a 3 month time period(for example end of march to end of june) then something is wrong and he is not trying hard enough to make the relationship work(especially if he can find time to have band practice, go shopping, and hang out with other people). I think if that is the case it only makes sense for the girl to break up with him(if he doesnt break up with her first that is) becuase it is obvious that he isnt trying hard enough and its bullshit.

Anthony and I havent hung out alone, just the two of us, since the day before he left for spring break. I'm sure you get what I'm saying.

To be continued with results(June 26th)...

Am I wrong? Is there something I'm not seeing or realizing or what not?

Honda Civic Tour.

Erica and I got to Walgreens area at like 12:30 and got some Halls Fruit Breezers(cool creamy strawberry, if you were wondering) and waited for Andi and co. to pick us up. While we waited we made dinosaur noises and scared everyone around us. Then we were leaning against the wall and singing/dancing to the Jay and Silent Bob rap thing and an old guy was driving by and started dancing. It was really funny.

Andi and Adam picked us up and then we met Liz at Walmart. Andi and I ran through the parking lot screaming her name, at this time I realized Andi dyed the underneath of her hair blond. We then found Liz right by the car in the opposite direction. haha. nice.

We got to The Rave at around 2 and there were about 30 people in front of us. We didnt plan on going up front so it wasnt a big deal. We passed out a few balloons and Fueled By Raman booklet things. We ate corn nuts and got Mcdonalds, and jellyfish danced and slept, and stood, and sat(in flower pots) and were crazy awesome. Adam and I went to look at the car and bus and saw Josh, then walking back we saw Justin. He had his hood up and headdown, I recognized him but Erica and Adam didnt. I'm sure he didnt want to be bothered, so we didnt. haha. A guy walked by saying no cameras were allowed, then a while later he walked back saying they were allowed, but damn, I didnt have mine. At another point a guy walks out and was like, "I just want to remind you that in all of these trucks are drivers who have been awake all day and night and are finally sleeping so keep the volume down. You guys are doing great right now, this is a good volume to stay at so keep it up. You're at a good volume and are doin really good, just keep it in the back of you mind bla bla bla" He was a very posative, assuring man, I want to be him. Haha. Then the line moved up after forever and we were right in front of a truck with Nicole and Haley, so in the side of the truck we realized our reflections were very distorted, it was really fun. All together just standing in front of the truck entertained us for about a half hour. Awesome, right.

At about six the doors opened and we all went in, got checked, and waited in the bar area. Once the doors opened people freeked out and I was pushed into a garbage can and into a wall and a door frame. FUN. Everyone ran up the stairs and into the ball room. We were lefthand of the stage a few people back. Nice. We decided that we would stay there until the crowd go bitchy.

Phantom Planet opened the show, they have a great stage presence. Alex came into the crowd a few times. There was a really big, tall guy in front of me(with a cane) with his daughter and I got in front of him a few songs in. They closed their set with California which was kinda crazy nostaligic for me. A few years ago I only heard that song, watching The OC, I used to love that show and that kinda stuff, now I'm at a concert and prefer music. It was just really strange.

The Hush Sound played next, they're so good, Greta's voice has gotten much stronger and Bob's almost seemed softer. They played an even mix of old and new songs, so that was nice. Greta was suprisingly bubbly on stage, I liked it, she is one of the few really feminine, lady-like girls in this music scene and it was somewhat refreshing. I loved their set, it would have been sweet if they played one of the songs I liked more, but it was still good.

Next was Motion City Soundtrack, we were right in front of Josh, second 'row' of people. It was a good set, I wish they could have played more. Justin seemed way more to the right than usual and Jesse seemed further up. Justin AGAIN stopped the crowd twice to see if everyone was okay, that man, I love him. Andi and I realized that Jesse and I clap the same which made me really happy cuz her and Anthony like to pick on me about that haha. I only clap with my right hand. I'm weird, but it made me happy that Jesse does that too. I love watching Josh play, he plays and plays and plays and then looks up at everyone and just smiles. Its so cute. Justin was especially 'attractive today' as well, something about him is just amazing haha. Amazing. During the last song is when people started annoying me, one guy next to me decided he would continue to try and fight his way in front of me, didnt work, so everytime he tried to elbow his way through me I hit him. haha.

As soon as they left the stage, Andi and I left. We bought merch(I got the dolls Motion City Shirt. Every tshirt was $25, that was a little much, but I love the shirt) and then found Liz in line to meet Motion City Soundtrack. Matt was first in line, I had him sign the article/interview I did from our school paper, he thought it was cool. He signiture was different than the other times haha. I got a picture with Matt, he's awesome hah. Then was Josh, he made fun of the ooollllldddd picture that our school decided to put in of Matt and made fun of his hair being big. Justin was next, I told him he was my lyrical hero and he gave me a highfive. Awesome. When Jesse got the paper he gave the picture of Matt devil horns, angry eyebrows, a mustache, a goatee, an boobs...interesting. Last was Tony, I told him he was awesome and got a picture with him and Liz. I also got a picture with Justin. Liz took the article and showed it to Matt, he acted appalled, I love him! We took some stalker pictures and went back to the ballroom.

We watched Panic from the back and danced our feet off. I saw Erica so we went to get her to meet Motion City, but there was a lady who was 'the end of the line' so she couldn't. It was lame. I was so suprised at how good Panic did. The other 2 times I've seen them they sucked live, yea they had a great stage show going on, but that was to distract everyone from how horrible they sounded. They were really impressive, it was great. There were bubbles and cool pictures, an encore, and amazingness. Andi left during Mad As Rabbits, the last song, to try to crowdsurf, but no one would lift her up. The crowd was rather strange, but the whole thing was much better than I expected.

Afterwords we all met outside. It was raining and lightening. It was nice for after a show. Sam, from Phantom Planet, had invited Liz and the rest of us for a small accoustic set near their bus afterwords. I dont know if it ended up happening or not, we waited for a little while but we couldnt find them, security was horrible, and we were wet. We decided to leave. I was oober hungry so ate more cornnuts. when I woke up this morning...I tasted cornnuts, it was gross. haha. I cant believe how great it actually was. It was a really really really good show.

The End.

5 CDs You Should Go Buy Right Now!

HOKAY. So for the last few weeks I have decided that I want to be happy. Not that bullshit happy that I fake sometimes, but real happy. I started kinda just acting childish(not immature...but like I did when I was a kid!) So we went to the zoo, I bought colorin books, I'm listening to HAPPY music. Yes, I love My Chem, Fall Out Boy, Green Day, all the good stuff, I always will. But I've let my ears take a break from that harsh reality of that sort of music and am currently on a music vacation listening to good good good music. These are 5 CDs you should go buy right now(after reading the list silly);

1. Steel Train - Trampoline
It has some depressing reoccuring themes of death and such because of their past(look into it, seriously)but its very upbeat. Its very catchy, its almost Bowie-esque and I like that. It's one of those cd's that could be great even without lyrics because the actual music has so much feel to it. I love it, it's real but it shows that there is a positive side at the same time.

2. Ben Lee - Ripe
This cd is about growing up(to me). The last song("Ripe") is truly amazing, its so inspiring and hopeful and nice. The songs are happy. The cd is so carefree but at the same time its meaninful. It makes me feel better a lot :) Ben Lee has got it going on, and even if he didnt, he has that whole 'Australian Charm' thing going on, I'm madly in love with his music, I dont even know what to say about it!

3. Queen - The Best of Queen
It's Queen. What do you expect? It's pure goodness, I cant skip a single song they're all woohoo and such and such. If you have heard of Queen, you know that this is good. The End.

4. Ben Lee - Awake Is The New Sleep
More Ben Lee. Same explanation as the last, only a little slowed down I suppose. It's still greatness, but this one took a little more for me to get used to it I suppose. It's very calming.

5. Tegan and Sara - If It Were You
So this was like, three cds ago of theirs, so I know I'm a bit behind in the game. I bought So Jelous when I first heard them, Then The Con when it came out, now I'm finally just getting this cd(yesterday) Its way different from the other 2 cds I have of theirs. I like it though. It's not exactly what I meant by this journal of posativeness but its not really like its negative or anything, either way, its what I'm listening to thats making me happy.

BONUS CD!
Panic At The Disco - Pretty. Odd

How Could I Know?

This day went from being a normal school day, to making me feel like a kid again, to making me feel sick to my stomach.

School was school. Then I went to my sisters baseball practice(where i used to play baseball) and went exploring back in the woods behind it and sat by the edge of the lake hidden back there and just thought and listened to Ben Lee(the most carefree happy music on the planet) and I was happy. I want to bring someone there and just be happy with them.

Then I got to band practice and the first thing I see is Erica drinking and Anthony offering me one. Its a free country. People should do what they want. I personally do not get drinking. It's for the dead. It made me a little sick to my stomach(you may have noticed). That isn't something I want to be around. I'm not going to be a prude about it, I dont want to be bitchy and/or preachy about it. But please, if I'm around....kinda maybe please try to not drink around me. It makes me feel uncomfortable....and if I'm uncomfortable around you I dont want to be by you. So please....save it for when I'm not around.

I know(or have never meet, in my Grandpa O'Shea's case) too many people who have been killed by or have had their lives ruined by alcohol. So please. PLEASE try not to drink around me. And dont ever fucking offer me yours.

5 Songs

Okay so people have posted this so will I.
I am very bored.

So what, 5 songs I loved at first listen? Here it goes...

  1. Hello Helicopter- Motion City Soundtrack: I heard a 30 second clip of this song on some Japanese website a few weeks before the entire cd was on The Leak and wanted to hear more. Then it was on The Leak and I bought the cd the first day it came out. This song is amazing and one of my favorites :)
  2. You're Not Alone - Saosin: Truth be told, I don't listen to Saosin that much. I was babysitting one day and watching Fuse(I dont have that channel at home). The music video came on and I was immediatly interested and liked it. I had never really heard of Saosin before that, their cd art was recognizable at best. Later I saw them in concert and got their cd...then I lost the cd :( never the less, it is an awesome song.
  3. Paperback - Envy On The Coast: I found this song a bit before the Welcome To The Universe tour. I knew music by 30STM and that's it so I naturally decided to investigate the other opening acts. This was probably actually the second song I heard from them but it made me love them. I freeked out when they played it live becuase it was my favorite.
  4. American Television - Ben Lee: Okay so basically every other song by Ben Lee that has a music video but this was the first. I was up late, probably working on homework, watching tv and it had to be either Jay Leno or Conan Obrien(omg did you know that jimmy fallon is taking conans time slot when conan moves up?!?!?!) that had Ben Lee as the musical guest. I had never heard of him but I heard Australia and heard him start playing this song and I loved it. It's such a cute song, he as an adorable voice and I love him. The next day I looked up a bunch of his videos on youtube and later bought his two latest cds. I enjoy them both very much.
  5. This Can't Happen Again - Patent Pending: Okay, so you know how on youtube they have the sidebar(or probably used to have..) that showed videos being played or popular videos or what not? Yes well, one of them had a screencap that was some dudes, lots of color, and a whale costume. It looked fun so I clicked it. It was the "Patent Pending Makes A Video" series(of i think 4 videos). So I watched it, I didnt know if they were actually a band or if it was just a weird video series. At the end of the last video they show the music video for this song. I loved it and looked up the rest of their music. Then I went off to buy their cd. Good Stuff.

Honorable Mentions:

  • Admit It - Say Anything: Technically I heard my friends singing it before I heard it
  • The Future Freaks Me Out - Motion City Soundtrack
  • Black Eye - Steel Train
  • So Damn Hot - Ok Go
  • I Write Sins Not Tragedies - Panic! At The Disco(is it acceptable to write the ! since they were still Panic! at that time?)

When I first listened to......I hated them, now I love them!

  • Bayside
  • Kill Hannah
  • Metro Station
  • My Chemical Romance
  • AFI

Time.

"Father time looks over us. You will miss it if you rush."

Ach. I hate time in most ways. It moves too quickly or too slowly.
Currently I'm hating the time difference between here and PST time zone. I just want to know if I should be sad or happy about the Tegan and Sara show. I want to win so bad(i dont think you even know) like it would be such a pick me up after this last week and a half of shittyness.

I also wish Margaret Peterson Haddix had MORE time to come to Books and Company or was coming at a later time becuase I got it mixed up and she was there from 4 to 5. She was one author who I read almost all of her books and she inspired me to write. I was going to go meet her since its like, a 10 minute(not even) drive there. Cool beans. But not so much cuz it just turned 5 and I have not yet been there. boo hoo.

Haha, wow watch me complain like my life sucks.
Like asthma..that fucking sucks(especially when instead of dancing in dance you hardcore workout for an hour and a half FUCK) haha...i like to wear ties though...so thats sweet. haha.

....This would be amazing!

Tegan and Sara had a contest going for like 2 or 3 hours that the first 10 people to respond with the right answer would win a pair of tickets to a small, 5 song, accoustic set at 102.1 in Milwaukee. As soon as I got home I entered with the right answer and I hope I get the tickets.

Me and Erica waited too long to buy our tickets for the regular shows so we're not going. This would be so amazing. Especially since we would be seeing them on May 7th. Our first ever concert was May 7th when we were in 8th grade...Tegan and Sara(with The Killers)

So wish me fucking luck!
