As some of you know, I went to Boston from Tuesday to Friday last week! It was cold but I had a lot of fun, and stayed with Buzznet's very own, Claire! Here's a brief blog on my week, I'll be posting a lot more photos over the next few weeks.
Left from Chicago to Boston on Monday morning. There was some snow.
Once I arrived, I had to figure out public transportation (we don't have much of that where I'm from, haha), met Claire at school, we went out for pizza, and eventually when she went to class, I bummed around the area, checked out Harvard (pictured) and a few stores.
View from Claire's apartment. I stayed in her roommates really nice bedroom.
The next day, while Claire was at work at the Boston Symphony Orchestra, I walked around that part of Boston. I stopped by the Mary Baker Eddy library, which was part of the Christian Science Center, to see the Mapparium. It was a pretty building, and the mapparium itself was so cool, but we weren't allowed to take pictures in that part which suuuucks.
Outside of the Prudential Center.
Boston Public Library
Boston Public Garden.
The next day, we went on a walk around the financial district and got canolis.
When Claire went to work later that day, I went to the Museum of Fine Arts. It was really nice. This is a husband and wife sarcophogus.
Bust of Aristotle.
Claire got a heated blanket and we're happy the apartment didn't burst into flames.
On my last full day, we went out for breakfast and then shopping a bit. We found these RICH hats at Buffalo Exchange and wanted to get the for Buzznet's Rich lol.
And because we're both adults, we bought these Arrested Developments magnets. She got Tobias and GOB, and I just got Tobias.
This is a postcard that accurately desribes my Boston experience.
So on Friday, while we were shopping, I got a phone call that said my flight had been canceled and moved to Saturday morning. This was bad news bears since I had about $20 (I only went on the trip with $80 total because bank was closed Monday and Boston doesn't have my bank, yikes) and since trains don't run early enough we would have to take a taxi. I also was supposed to work Saturday morning at 7. Well, since we couldn't move things around, we ended up taking a taxi Saturday morning and had to short the driver because his credit card reader didn't work so she couldn't use her card and it was more cash than we had. I felt bad, but ooops. The flight home seemed way longer and the guy sitting next to me took up a lot of space. I got home, my dad took me to the bank and out for breakfast, I got home by noon, and craaaaaaaaashed.
I had a fantastic week, even though most of what I did was sight see in the cold and act stupid with Claire. I would definitely go back, but next time would be in summer and with money!
