Another book for my 50 Book Challenge? You're damn right it is!
By Ralph Ellison
I think I got this book at our school library's book sale. I had heard of it before and knew the basic themes, but not what it was actually about. I ended up liking it a lot. It was a pretty long book so there were obviously some parts that got a bit boring but for the most part I really liked it. Here are a few quotes I enjoyed...
"To hell with being ashamed of what you liked. No more of that for me. I am what I am!" pg. 266
"Life is all pattern and discipline; and the beauty of discipline is when it works" pg. 382
"Life is to be lived, not controlled; and humanity is won by continuing to play in face of certain defeat. Our fate is to become one, and yet many." pg. 577
